Hello Everyone,

This is something dear to my Family. Even though it is important to us we have not had the time to plan this with everyone. Work has been crazy with re-organization in the company and possible career changes being made available.

So even with the short notice Ginny, Kurt and I are asking for help to support the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance - Step Forward to Cure TS in Wyomissing, PA. Yes it's far and yes we know we are nuts for asking, but supporting the Alliance is all we have as a family for Kurt's genetic disorder.

I am trying to set up a special area for our cars so we can have a small show of force from the club, so we are recognized as a group. (I'll keep everyone posted on this)

We will be grateful to anyone that can come and join us.

The event will be posted soon with all the information.

Thanks again,

Rich, Ginny and Kurt

OK Folks, get those check books out! You can sponsor Rich's walk by making a check out to TS Alliance. He MUST have the check with him on walk day, 9/12.

I say we begin to collect checks at the weekly M&G's and get them to Rich before the big day. No need to respond to this with retoric or amounts. Just see a club officer at your next M&G and hand it over! lol

An officer from each area M&G will be collecting donations and forward them to Rich in a timely manner. This will also be posted in each M&G section as a reminder. It's only 2 1/2 weeks away so don't be shy. Come on out and help any way you can for a great cause!

Rich - True to my word, I will be coming out for the event. What's a little ride in the Charger. I also have my mom coming out so we can have extra people.

I think both of us are going to walk in support of you, Ginny and Kurt.

See you there, if I don't see you before hand.

Hello Again Everyone,

Ginny, Kurt and I really appreciate the support you have given us. Just being a member has help our family greatly. I'll explain - It was only 9 months ago that getting Kurt out of the car was a tag team event. Kurt can get behavioral when he does not get what he wants. I would have to reach across and unbuckle the seatbelt while Ginny would open the door and back up. I know this is not the picture you currently see of Kurt. When I saw how great everyone was, I started bringing Kurt to the M&G's and used them as a sort of theropy. Now he looks forward to going and has made friends with many members... you know who you are and we are forever grateful.

This event will help research for a cure... but it goes deeper. The Reseach done for TS has helped change the way information is shared for other deseases, like Autism, Cancer and Alzheimers. In some ways their reseach has helped these deseases more than their own research. For TS research, they have been able to find the location of the malformed genes and found that there is a difference between the way they mutate and when. This is a great discovery and gives us hope.

The money donated, no matter how much, will help give other families hope as well. There are many levels of this disorder and we count ourselves as one of the lucky ones... Take a look at the Web Site and thank you ALL for your support. www.tsalliance.org

Rich, Ginng & Kurt

I just posted a big Thank You on the Essex/Union M&G that I thought should be seen here too!

Hi Everyone.... What you ALL did tonight (along with 1 donation from the Camden M&G) was nothing short of AMAZING. We really don't know what to say... We know that Thank You is probably enough but feel like we should do more, so we will say THANK YOU!!! (in MOPAR Blue of course)

Ginny and I are usually not the ones asking for help... we are usually the ones helping in some way. With any handicapped child there are many unknowns, so we try our best to advocate for younger families with the new and difficult issues they will face regarding medical, education and family support. Been there - Done that can help take years off of educational planning or difficult medical decisions.

To give you an idea how the TS Alliance helps families, I will tell you a personal story that just recently happened. Go to http://www.tsalliance.org/pages.aspx?...

On this page there is a document called - Sample Insurance Letter Supporting Medical Necessity of TSC Dermatology Treatment Procedures (PDF File)

We had a 3 year old claim that went to collection for this treatment which was performed on Kurt - $6,700.00 which the insurance company wanted no part of. I was not going to pay it, but had no way to properly communicate why it was a valid medical claim. Through discussions with many families that faced this issue, the Alliance saw the need to create the documentation that gave the insurance companies the real information about this procedure. We just used it in our claim and they are now agreeing to pay for the treatment. This is after many letters from several doctors and countless phone calls. The document works, because it was written around the insurance guidelines, which no Doctor of Parent would know. Without your donations other families may not have this info in the future.

If you really look at the website and browse around, you will see there is information for everyone. This in it's self is huge, but they even explain how researchers can get grants. You think they would know how to do this, but on the site they document a proven way to get funding which helps point more researcher towards this Disease.

Anyway I can write a book, but without the Alliance supporting the medical community, families and researchers Kurt and many other children (and adults) would not be where they are today.

THANK YOU ALL Again for your help,

Rich, Ginny and Kurt

Rich, sorry I couldn't make it. I sent you a PM but I don't know if you got it because of the problem with the PMs. Anyway I still have two donations for you from the Camden Co. M&G from 9/9/09. Good luck and enjoy your day. See you soon.

We had a great day, even with the rain it was a very successful event. The NJ Mopar Group was able to donate $1,100 to the TS Alliance today. We cannot thank you all enough for this great contribution.

We'll be able to deliver remaining donations to the Alliance for the NY Walk on the 26th. Ginny and I are grateful for all the support and really do not know how to thank everyone. In previous posts many of us have stated how the Group is more like a family and what has taken place in the past month, between the Barbeque, TS Alliance Walk and the Whiskey show for Samantha, is undesputable proof that this is a Family.

Thank you all again,

Rich, Ginny and Kurt

Hello Everyone,

Ginny, Kurt and I want to all thank you again for everything you had done for the TS Alliance Walk. We promised to post the pictures from the event that raised over $20,000 for research. The total from the NJ Mopar group is now $1,300 and we are so grateful for your help...

Ginny and Kurt are all wet, but having a great time as she wave to her fans - LOL!

Dave and I found historical references about every structure on the Parks Property, which was also part of the Penn State Campus. This was a 200 ft covered bridge that gave us shelter for a while during the walk.

Cynthia came prepared and found the Mill's dam very interesting. The water wheel was no longer there but this mill must have been very productive when it was in use.

Ginny and Kurt got a little wet and he did not want to get out of the rain after the event. Kurt actually found out that you can walk in the rain and not melt....

Cynthia's mom lead the way out of the rain. There were hot dogs and brownies for everyone.

We all enjoyed the hot dogs and made the best of it in this old storage building that had a great fireplace...

Shelly (our host for the walk) and her Mom had a photo OP with their local Congressman.

Please take a look at the remaining 90 or so photo's... Maybe next year it will not rain!

Hi Rich,

I wish I could have known about this earlier, I would have been more glad to donate. If you dont mind taking straight cash I will donate for the cause (May not be much, but every little bit will help).

Sincerely,

Hey Matt.... Thank you kindly! We are always open to giving for this cause...

That goes for any of the charities we support. I have some dry and canned goods for the Interfaith Food Pantry as well from Garvey's.

For anyone in a giving mood, these charities always need support... incuding St. Judes, which we support at our Annual NJ Mopar Group BBQ....

Thanks again Matt...

Rich
