FLYBYU, aka Dan from the lxforums, is in the process of gathering some info to set up a road course event of some sort for the 2009 season. I have no specific details as of yet for this event.  From the sounds of it, this will be a very large undertaking  on Dan's part with regards to requirements, coordination of the event,  instructors, etc. I would like to get some sort of a head count so I can let Dan know way in advance how many to expect from our group. I am also looking forward to working together with Dan on this to help him out in any way I can. Right now, I just need a yes or no with regards to interest. Details will be forthcoming as I get them. A word of caution, this will not be cheap. We're probably looking at somewhere in the area of a few hundred dollars each plus travel and hotel (depending upon how far away). All LX cars regardless of engine type are invited.

Stan, I'm hoping to have more info on this asap so as to help in the decision making of individuals. This would not take place for quite a few months and money probably wouldn't be needed until then. It's actually the other expenses we're trying to nail down to help get a good idea of the total cost of this event. Location determines whether or not a hotel is needed for some. Driving distance varies for everyone of course depending on where it's held. Then there's the expense of prepping the car for an event of this type. Brand new brakes are a must along with an extra set of pads (this will most probably be a requirement to participate) and fresh brake fluid along with extra fluid to bleed them between runs (also probably a requirement). Fresh tires would be a good idea as well. Make no mistake, this is not a day at the drag strip for fun and about 30$ in expenses. This will take a level of commitment to participate that most of us have not yet seen. Road racing is serious business and can be dangerous if not taken seriously. Not trying to scare anyone, just letting you know what to expect. Spectators are welcome I'm sure. That may be a way to participate without all of the expense and drama. Hey, everyone needs a pit crew right?

I'd love to participate, as long as it's on a Sunday.  I've done some road racing with the SRT experiance and had a blast.

Just spoke with Dan from the LX forums. It looks like this event will take place at the NJMOTORSPORTS park in south Jersey on March 30th. That's a Monday for those without a calendar handy, lol. It will most probably be on the 2 mile long Lightning course which is a little faster and less technical than their other course.  I NEED a good head count on this within a few weeks so I can secure our spots in the rotation. There will be a deposit needed at that time to hold your spot. Dan states that the cost should be around 250$ or so. Once he finalizes all the preperations that figure will be more definite.

I'm in!!!!  Tony, who do I give the deposit to?  This will definitely be a blast, and I don't want to miss it!

Please keep us posted as we get closer to race day.

Thanx,

Dave and Joe

Not sure where the deposits are going just yet. I'll pass on the info as I get it.

Hey Tony,

How do they work this event?  Is it one car at a time around the track or is it multiple cars at once?

Dale, not 100% sure but my guess is it is a timed event. As dangerous as road racing can be running solo, imagine if a bunch of us were out there together! I'll clarify this point asap and post it.

Dan is looking for final head count for this event and is requesting real names (first and last), email addresses and phone #'s for contact purposes.  This is last call for this event!! Please pm this info so I can pass it on. Deposits will probably be needed some time in the next week or 2. Still working on final pricing and requirements.

Hey Tony,  I'm still very interested but I don't want to commit until I'm sure we're not running as a pack.  Like you, I would assume we wouldn't be but I don't want to say yes and then not participate if that were the case.  Also, what about a rain date?  Is it a rain or shine event?

Dale, as far as I am aware, this park has a rain or shine policy, meaning if it's raining, we get wet. As for the running as a pack, YES! We will be on the track at the same time as other cars.  Not sure how many at once but I was told we will start off staggered but will have the ability to pass or be passed. Yeah, this could get interesting!

Deena, we'd love to see you there. Keep in mind, a deposit will be due very soon as this event is only about 6 weeks away. You'll also need some additional funds for a few items for the car like brake fluid and a spare set of pads. I'll let you know when they need the deposit money as soon as I hear. Hope you can join us.
