I just received a pm from Dan who is running the track rental at the NJmotorsports park. He is asking for a final head count for this event. Deposits will be due in about week and the total cost looks to be in the 250-300$ range. Please pm me asap if you are interested as I need to get him our info and a total.
Another pm from Dan yeilded some additional info. There will be instructors out on the course for those of us who are new to this style of racing to help us find the correct line and to keep the speeds down to a safe level. There will be NO passing on these heats and Dan assures me this is the way to go if you're new to this type of event.

yeah....it pains me to say it, but I will not have the $$$ with in a week, so I'll cross my fingers that this will be available next year, or maybe some time later this year.
Deena, sorry to hear you can't make this one. If this goes as well as everyone hopes, I'm sure it will be set up again. Unfortunately at the cost of the track rental, we will never be able to do this on our own. It takes approximately 50 or so cars to get the individual cost down to about 250$ or so as the track rental alone without instructors is a whopping 8000$! I'll keep my ear to the ground for the next rental day and hopefully we'll get some NJMOPARGROUP participation for that one.
I too like Deena would like to go but money is just a little tight right now, so I can't go.
I have to say the same thing, I'd llove to attend even if just to watch you hard core racers try and make it around this track....LOL.....but the old fixed income budget with the recent LEHMAN BROS. hit I just took won't allow it at this time......maybe next year...But I wish and hope all that do go have a really

OK, another update on the road course rental. Rob and Dan have secured 2 sponsors for this event which will be bringing the cost per racer down to just over 200$ each. 50$ deposits are due by next week with the remainder due by the end of February.
I have already paid my deposit and will pay the rest in a week or so. Here's the interesting part. With the extensive work being done to my car at 402, I'm not sure my car will be done by the 30th of March, nor am I sure I want to actually do this when all is said and done. If I decide not to participate, I can sell my spot to anyone I choose. Is anyone interested in being on standby? I will probably not know if I can participate until a week or so before. If this works for you, please let me know.
