Well, since I have been really bored lately, and I really don't have any projects going right now, I figured it was time to start one. So, when we left Hooters two weeks ago, we decided to set the car on fire. Yes that's right, the car caught on fire in the middle of the on ramp to Rt. 73. Real nice right? So, thank God we have AAA, because we had to get the car towed back to my house. Now I am waiting for all new wiring to come so i can tear it apart and fix it. So, along with having a great time at the Hooters with everybody, I now have a new project to work on.
Yeah, I was shocked to hear about the fire. I thought you're quick rigg (eliminating the faulty length of wire) would have been enough to make it home, but I guess that link is still the weakest link.
Were you able to find a complete factory harness?
Sorry to hear about this... How bad was the fire? from the thread, it seems like everyone is ok. Good luck with the hunt for a harness... Any pictures?
Yea, I was able to keep the fire just to the electrical system. So no major damage. I got the battery unhooked before it got out of control. I ordered all new harnesses for the car, should see them this week. I can take some pics....but there's really not much to see. All of the coating on the wires is melted away from the firewall all the way to the alternator...and from the fuseblock out. What a mess.
OK, so when I heard (read) fire, I thought, vinyl melting, paint bubbling and glass poping. It sounds like the harness is available so you are better off than I thought, but it must still be a heart breaking. There a few of us that know wiring, so if you run into difficulties don't be afraid to ask.
So sorry to hear about that NJdukesfan, hope it all works out for you.
Tom
That really sucks
