The Dodge dealer is saying they are to only ones who can correctly mount and balance Tires on an SRT8 20" wheel due to the tire pressure sensor and some kind of "heat shield" in the wheel. They want 400$ to mount and balance 4 tires! Is this BS like I think? Can any GOOD tire place do this as well...and cheaper?
That sounds completely crazy. When I got my new Nittos (18's) I had them mounted at Warwick Dodge up by me because I wanted to make sure it was done by someone who knew how to deal with the TP Sensors. They charged me $60.00 for all 4. I Realize the 18 inch on daytona are different because the weights are on the outside, but I can't see them being any more than $100-$120 for all 4.
In the past, I had purchased replacement Michelin tires from STS and had them do it. It was done twice by them and they never messed up the TP sensors. They were about the same. I think they got either $15 or $20 per tire (so $60-$80 for the set).
I had my mechanic balance and mount my 20's and he had no problem with the sensors--I believe any good tire shop especially one that sells chrome wheels would be able to do a good job for you--
$400 is insane. Are tires free when you have them balanced?
Thanks for the input, guys. That's what I thought. They're wheels ....NOT the space shuttle. Discount tire in Hackettstown has done work for me before. I'll have them do it. We decided on the Kumho Ecsta ASX tires(Performance All Season)...$800 mounted and balanced. They got good reviews, too.

$400 is WAYYYY too much and whatever "stealership" gave you that price should be ashamed...And it's total BS about them being the only ones that can deal with the TPS system. I've had several vehicles with this system, and it is very easy to deal with resetting after new tires are mounted. I had my new tires mounted and high speed balanced for $120, and the 22 inch wheels on my SRT require a special machine to mount/dismount the tires. Just another reason i avoid dealerships...
Holy God Rich! That is crazy.... I had 8 tires dissasembled 4 mounted and balanced and the others just balanced and stemmed for $90.00 at STS. Any quality tire shop can deal with TPS sensors and mounting and balancing any tire/rim.

That's absolutely ridiculous i would spit in someones face if they told me that much to do it. Telling someone a price like that for that kind of job is just plain disrespectful and offensive. I have a good place that can mount on up to 26" rims and they just bought a 14000 dollar computer / laser balancing machine they did my tires and I can hit 110 without having any sort of wobbling shaking or shimmying at all and they have fair prices if you are in the central jersey area I can give you their number
