I am looking for assistance with solving a problem in the silver 2001 dakota at my house. I know what sensors require testing.

The problem is that every time the truck gets up to full temperature the engine will not stay running unless the gas pedal is being pressed. The computer popped a code which translated to "Loss of cmp or ckp sensor signal". In other words, camshaft position sensor or crankshaft position sensor signal is being lost once the engine gets up to full temperature.

The help I need is an extra set of hands to watch a volt meter while I probe the sensor signal wires. I have a haynes book for the truck as well as a wiring diagram to help me and my assistant.

I need this problem fixed before April. If anyone is able to help me, please let me know.

Matt

Did this issue get solved??? damage to the notched sensor ring on the crankshaft, harmonic balancer or flywheel can cause an erratic crankshaft sensor signal. could just be looking at a bad coilpack. I'm not sure if it would give a different code though.
